{water}

It is almost too easy to take the simple, yet important, things in life for granted! And this was just another time for a wake up call. Yesterday Travis and I left the house to get in the car for work and school and found about 1.5 inches of water all on the driveway. I had an 8 a.m. meeting so we had to leave right then without trying to fix anything. We called our landlords and let them know {except they live in Park City so everything can get a bit delayed}. The walls in our house aren't too thick or insulated, so I was mentally preparing for water damage in our house.

At about noon I heard from Travis that the neighbors in the backyard went outside to go somewhere and noticed the water on the driveway. They started to leave and then looked across the street and poof---there was a plumber's truck on someone's driveway at a house down the street. They asked him to come turn off all the water. Talk about a huge tender mercy. The plumber was able to discover that a pipe was broken underneath our driveway.

So our water was shut off for over 24 hours and let's just say it was an adventure! We've learned that we need to have lots of hand sanitizer on hand for emergencies, a large water supply, oh and more hand sanitizer and water. Except the not being able to flush the toilet part of the whole ordeal wasn't too fun---I won't get into details but let's just say being able to flush a toilet is an oh so wonderful thing we have here in America.

The water is back on now, thanks to some miracle solution our landlord knows about. We can get the water pumped into our house from the neighbor's house! Crazy, but we'll take it. A hose is connecting both of our spigots and it's reverse pressurizing water into our house. So we have water until they can tear up part of the driveway next week and fix the pipe!

I've never been so excited to see water come out of a faucet. You don't know what you have till it's gone!
