{the wallet}

today we had our own little miracle occur!  yesterday travis tutored a guy in accounting to earn a little extra cash and went to one class in the tanner building. i met up with him on campus when he had finished and we walked back to the car to leave. while in the parking lot, he bent down and got his keys out of his backpack, which were in the same pocket as his wallet. well, almost two hours later of being home, i asked him where his wallet was. he said it was in his backpack, so i went and looked, and it definitely wasn't in there. so then we searched his pockets, and the car, and the whole house. i was looking under clothes, on the table, on the counter...we searched everywhere. he went through in his mind the whole day and knew every instance that he had used his wallet and when he had seen it.

so we re-traced his steps. once we determined that it was definitely not in our house, we drove back to the parking lot on campus and searched where we had parked. i left on note on the car that parked in the spot we had parked with my phone number to call if they had seen it. then travis went and searched his classroom. then we searched the lost and found for all of campus. the wallet was no where, and we decided that someone had seen it in the parking lot and hopefully would turn it in to the lost and found. this wallet had everything in it, things that if stolen could do some major damage.

well right after we searched everywhere, it was time for travis to leave on his campout. he left his phone in the car, so i had it with me. i drove home this morning and walked into the house. the first thing my eyes went straight to was the counter and right there, in the middle, and with nothing else hiding it, was travis' wallet.

i just stared at it for a minute, stunned!  i knew for a fact that the wallet was not in that spot yesterday. there is just no way we would have missed that. in fact, yesterday afternoon i had stuff on that exact spot on the counter when i was packing for the night. come to find out later when travis got home, he had forgotten something at the house before the campout so he ran back and saw the wallet just sitting by the mailbox. he put it on the counter then left on his campout, but since he had forgotten his phone on the campout, he couldn't let me know!

before we got married, my dad counseled travis and i to write down the tender mercies we see in our lives everyday. he even gave us a notebook to do it in. well, every single night before going to bed travis and i write in the book one or more tender mercies we experienced that day. it has been amazing to see the Lord's hand constantly in our lives, and today's miracle is another reminder that miracles do exist and that Heavenly Father is close, and very eager to bless us. we just have to ask!
